Ph.D. Position in Freiburg

The Institute of Mathematics, University of Freiburg, invites applications for a Ph.D. position (TV-L E13, 50%), possibly up to 5 years in the group of Thorsten Schmidt. Funding could be increased to 75% - depending on qualification and availability.  Ideally, the starting date is 1st of October 2024.

The position will be embedded into the probability department in Freiburg with manifold activities in probability, financial and insurance mathematics, machine learning, modern statistics and biomathematics.
The successful candidate will work on a topic related to uncertainty, financial mathematics or the regulation of AI. The Department Mathematical Stochastics at Freiburg University offers attractive research opportunities, for example in cooperation with the CRC Small Data.

The successful candidate will hold an excellent degree in Mathematics and has a sound knowledge on stochastic processes and mathematical finance.
